WWII - GERMAN ANTI-PARTISAN WAR BADGE

Known in German as `Der Bandenkampfabzeichen`, the Anti-Partisan War Badge was issued to recognise outstanding performance in this unconventional and unique area of WWII. Following the occupation of Western Russia and the Balkans, the German `administration` raised a veritable viper`s nest of partisans who engaged in destroying German supplies, disrupting troop movements, assasinations and generally creating havoc for the occupiers. The Germans returned the savagery of these attacks and soon were engaged in `unofficial` wars where no Geneva conventions were respected, few prisoners were taken and those that did fall into the hands of the Germans were brutally tortured and murdered. Although there were many badges to honor combatants serving in the Third Reich, Heinrich Himmler desired a special badge and on January 30th 1944, Hitler approved this award, noting that it should be given out for exceptional bravery and achievement in the iradication of Partisan forces.The badge itself displays an oval wreath with a grinning skull set at the base, resting on crossed femur bones. Above the skull there is an inverted Viking sword, which plunges down into a hydra`s nest, impaling a large hydra. The badge was worn on the left-breast, below the Iron Cross 1st class, if that award had also been won. Its close proximity to one of Germany`s most esteemed awards of military valour gives the reader an idea of the esteem also granted to the Anti-Partisan badge. Regardless of its past, this badge remains a favourite for Third Reich collectors to seek after.

1938 - NAZI PARTY RALLY BADGE

This rare Nazi Party badge was issued for the 1938 `Reichsparteitag`. Made by FR JUNCWIRTH of Wein, this Zinc badge has some evidence of oxidisation, commensurate with its age.

KNIGHTS CROSS OF THE IRON CROSS

No other military award of the Third Reich era carries with it the mystique of the Knight`s Cross (Ritterkreuz) to the Iron Cross. Suffice to say that the men who proudly wore the Knight`s Cross at their throat had distinguished themselves in the crucible of battle. The Ritterkreuzträgers became the heroes of an adoring Nazi Germany. In fact, to this day the Ritterkreuzträgers are still held in high esteem in their own communities.In September of 1939, the Knights Cross was created by Hitler to bridge the sizable gap that had existed between the Iron Cross 1st Class and the Grand Cross. WWII - NAZI PARTY LAPEL/TIE PIN

This fine WWII NAZI party lapel/tie pin features the German Swastika, in coloured enamel and is in Excellent condition. The pin (which is made from a `Gold coloured metal`) features a twist hlf-way along its length. The pin measures 6cm long.
